Coffee and after dinner mints|||Duck is easy to roast. It can be a bit fatty but if you let the duck fat drip onto potatoes and parsnips roasting underneath, you'll have a yumlicious meal. Also, there are very few leftovers.

Stollen cake with cheese (crumbly white cheese) is also nice.

Chocolate creamy roll is an alternative to traditional stodgy pud.|||This is my Christmas dinner menu -

Starter - Prawn cocktail on a bed of lettuce with a slice of lemon

Main Course - Roast chicken, roast lamb, roast potato's, stuffing, pigs in blankets (sausage wrapped in bacon), roast parsnips, green veg and gravy

Pudding - Chocolate cake with custard or whipped cream (i don't eat dried fruit so i will not be having Christmas pudding or mince pies)

I will also be doing a buffet-style selection such as chicken pieces and sausage rolls etc ...

I guess my menu is kinda old-fashioned, but it's what I've had for Christmas dinner every year that i can remember (desserts have varied though) and don't forget to buy some crackers!

Oh, and all my food is the oven-ready type as i am pregnant and don't really want to faff about preparing food for hours on end. The only thing that will be entirely handmade is the starter.|||i cooked a very early christmas dinner on sunday and we had

starter : king prawns with rocket salad and crusty brown rolls

Main Course: turkey crown, sausage stuffing, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, sausages wrapped in smoked bacon, cranbery sauce, really rich gravy and yorkshire pudding (for those who could manage it) and sprouts

Desert: christmas pudding with extra thick brandy cream

for a traditional christmas dinner i don't think you can go wrong with an old fashioned menu that people are guaranteed to enjoy

(personally i would have left off the yorkshire puddings but they were requested)|||Depends on your guests....and ease of cooking for you.

Pate and toast as a starter ...not much preparation needed or a soup...maybe something like carrot and corriander, which is a little different.

Main course..........meat or poultry of some sort. Turkey is now the norm...but goose or duck is very nice. If you select either of those you need to make sure to raise them on a trivet, otherwise they are very greasey. If you don't fancy that then try beef, pork or gammon joint.

Personally, I don't like Xmas pud.too heavy so maybe something light like jelly and/or icecream|||Have you tried pigoen pie.|||It depends on ur tastes. u should be cooking for you; if that is cheesy smash %26amp; baked beans from a can or ur budget runs to smoked salmon who are we to judge? Trick is not to cook too much. But ah', thats another little xmas tradition of ours..|||I would start with something simple such as melon balls, then traditional turkey and all the trimmings most of which you can prepare the day before and finish with xmas pud or icecream. The coffee and after 8 mints.

Doing most of the prep the day before ie prepare veg,do melon balls etc will give you more time with the guests.

Enjoy and have a fantastic day.|||I usually have the same every year.

Home made Scotch Broth, Roast Turkey, Carrots, Brussels Sprouts, Roast Parsnip, Boiled %26amp; Roast potatoes, Mini sausages wrapped in bacon, gravy %26amp; cranberry auce. Followed by a choice of either Trifle or a meringue dessert of some kind with lots of cream.

Then after that slouch in an armchair in front of the telly while consuming copious amounts of alcohol.|||For starters sushi......followed by a vegaterian meal, korn if u must, then a christmas pudding......WHERES MY PUDDIN?|||We have traditional.. Starter either prawn cocktail or melon. Main meal. Roast Turkey, Roast Pork, Roast potatoes. roast parsnips, Brussels sprouts, carrots, stuffing, bacon/sausage rolls, gravy. sauces of choice. Mashed potatoes, salad, rolls, green beans, mac and cheese. yum I can't wait.|||First course, get some duck and orange, or liver pate and some fresh cut bread/ french stick!! Or go for a light leek and potatoe soup, for second got with traditional Turkey (or goose) and roast Pots, parsnips, carrotts, (sprouts if liked by all!!) and pigs in blankets, stuffing and yorkshire puds, Dont over kill each plate though, for pudding go for Christmas pudding and or mince pies with champayne double cream and a small glass of mulled wine, for those who dont like the Christmas Pud or mince pies, make them a pavalova or lemon Merigue pie.

xx|||"sarmale" Romanian specialties :D meat like the one you put in meatballs with rice.. covered in cabbage. yummy.. they taste good :X:X|||l would have prawn cocktail then of course the roast followed by xmas pudding with brandy sauce followed by cheese of diffrent makes with crackers and a good bottle of sheery and xmas hats enjoy which ever u chice and meery xmas to every one|||Turkey and chips|||pigs in blankets ( cocktail sausages with apricots with bacon %26amp; rosemary ) you wrap the sausages, apricots %26amp; rosemary with the bacon cook for about 45 mins

parsnips roast in maple syrup

carrots roast in orange blossom honey with some ham|||Hi Craig,

If |I may I would recommend a traditional meal. Where I come from we start with Shrimp/prawn in sea food sauce served on a bed of salad(make the salad colourful with peppers maybe grated carrot and sultanas)

Then Turkey of course. served with in- season veg i.e. Roasted parsnip with a drizzle of honey, roasted potatoes, roasted carrots peas brussel sprouts are traditional.

Then Christmas pudding or homemade triffle. Checkout BBc recipes at channel 4. They will give you all the prearation info. Happy Christmas|||for first course, i think a prawn cocktail is in order, for main, i would go for roast turkey, stuffed, with carrots, broccoli, new potatoes, and another veg of your choice, and for dessert, Christmas Pudding.|||We're serving prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed pea pods %26amp; cauliflower, caesar salad, pumpkin pie, cherry pie and apple pie. We will also have relish trays, garlic butter sauteed mushrooms and sauteed onions.|||we are starting with chilli garlic prawns on on salad with sweet chilli dip followed by honey glazed ham on the bone, turkey, pigs in blankets, sausage meat, stuffing, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts and chestnuts, carrots with gravy, cranberry sauce and breadsauce followed by a choice of christmas pudding with brandy cream or pear tarte. its pretty easy if you get everything prepared before hand, including cooking the turkey and just heating the slices before you put it on the plate. you dont really need to parade a huge bird in front of your guests then slice it up and most of the veg, gravy come ready prepared and only need to be put in the oven or on the hob. good luck|||A Big 16 lb Turkey of coarse. Its big and it will satisfy your whole family for days to go as a main coarse.

p.s Don't forget the mashed carrots(boiled),mashed potatoes(can be chunky) with medium thickness gravy, broccoli cauliflower and Pork Stuffing for the turkey.

Phew, I'm Stuffed even thinking about this

For desert, a big Christmas Pudding topped with Whipped cream, Holly leaves, a cherry and some Wine for a flame.

It was a Pleasure answering you question.

See Ya|||We have similar starters, veg etc. to the other answerers, but we usually have a goose each year instead of a turkey.

Goose is also a traditional Christmas bird, and it makes a nice change to Turkey. It does give off a lot of fat when cooking, so you will have to use a spoon or baster to remove it every so often as you cook the goose. We put the fat into lidded pots and use it for cooking roast potatoes for the next 6 months. It makes the best roast potatoes!!|||There are some lovely ideas in this menu:

http://www.gourmet-food-revolution.com/t…|||Prim Rib, green bean casserole, potato's
