Can I start making Christmas Cookies Now?

Do you think it's too early to start making Christmas cookies? How would I keep them fresh until Christmas? I thought about freezing them, but I don't know if they CAN be frozen. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!|||FREEZING COOKIE DOUGH

Cookie dough will freeze well for 4 to 6 weeks. Rolls of dough should be sealed tightly in plastic wrap (chill in refrigerator first before freezing). Other kinds of dough should be stored in airtight containers. Drop cookies (unbaked) may be frozen on cookie sheets and transferred to freezer bags. Let stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking.

The cookie doughs that freeze best are:

* shortbreads

* chocolate chip

* peanut butter

* refrigerator

* sugar

* brownies

(Avoid freezing cake-like cookies and cookies that have a very liquidy batter, such as madeleines and tuiles.)

Don't try to freeze soft meringue-type cookie dough. Chocolate chip, brownies, peanut butter, and sugar cookie dough (or anything similar) freezes well. Let the dough defrost in the refrigerator (about 2-3 hours). Make sure to label the container with the date and type of cookie dough.

Refrigerator Sugar Cookies.

Original recipe yield: 3 - 4 dozen

Ingredients

* 2 cups white sugar

* 2 cups unsalted butter

* 2 eggs

* 1 teaspoon baking soda

* 4 cups all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS

1. Cream sugar with butter. Add eggs and mix well. Sift baking soda and all-purpose flour. Add to the butter mixture.

2. Shape dough into rolls, wrap in wax paper and chill at least several hours, preferable overnight.

3. Slice as thinly as possible (very sharp, thin blade knife dipped in water works best). When roll starts to get soft, return to refrigerator and start on another roll.

4. Decorate with colored sugar, etc. and bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven until set but not brown, 8 - 10 minutes. Yield depends on how thin the slices are but you should get at least 3 dozen.

Caramel Slices

Ingredients

* 3 cups all-purpose flour

* 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

* 1 cup shortening, melted and cooled slightly

* 2 cups packed brown sugar

* 2 eggs

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

1. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and nutmeg in a bowl and set aside.

2. Beat together in a large bowl the melted shortening and the brown sugar. Beat in the eggs, then the vanilla extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.

3. Shape dough into a log measuring 1-1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap log in waxed paper or foil and chill for 4 hours or overnight.

4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (180 degrees C). Lightly grease 2 baking sheets.

5. Slice log into slices 1/4 inch thick. Place slices 1 inch apart on the baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly colored. Cool on wire racks.

FREEZING BAKED COOKIES

Almost any baked cookie freezes well. Let cookies completely cool before freezing. Wrap cookies individually in plastic wrap then store them in a ziploc freezer bag or storage tin (coffee cans or holiday tins work great). You can also just layer the cookies between layers of waxed paper in the container, but the individually wrapped ones will store longer.

Freeze frosted cookies uncovered first until they are firm. Then pack them in airtight container lined with plastic wrap or foil. Make sure to label the container with the date and type of cookies. Unfrosted cookies can be frozen up to 6-12 months (frosted, about 3 months). Frozen cookies thaw in about 10 minutes at room temperature (if you can wait that long). If cookies should be crisp when thawed, remove them from the container before thawing.

Gingersnaps

1 c. sugar

3/4 c. butter

2 eggs

3 c. flour

2 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. ginger

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. cloves

1/2 c. molasses

In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Stir in flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Add molasses, stirring well. Refrigerate dough for an hour or two to chill. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in a little sugar and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.

Snickerdoodles

1 c. butter

1 1/2 c. sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 c. flour

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Refrigerate dough for an hour or two to chill. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

Peanut Butter Crackles

1 3/4 c. flour

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 c. butter, softened

1/2 c. peanut butter

Chocolate kisses or stars

Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix together butter, peanut butter, and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Remove from oven and press chocolate kisses firmly into cookie.|||Certain cookies can be made now, like shortbread. Other cookies can be made, but will need to be frozen since homemade cookies don't have preservatives in them to make them stay fresh longer. Wrap them tightly, but carefully to prevent that yucky freezer taste and you should be fine. You can also freeze your dough if you want and bake them at a later time.|||Most general Christmas cookies can be frozen in zip-lock style bags. If your recipe doesn't say, it should freeze ok. If it can't be frozen, the recipe usually states it. Sugar type and press or roll out or drop cookies can all be frozen. Just let them thaw 24 hours in frig and then get them out of the bags. Some cookies taste better cold, others you will want to thaw and then bring to room temp. (The only way to know is to taste a nibble cold, if you don't like it, warm them for about an hour out of frig.)|||Yes you can start early, i always do. Most cookies freeze well. Just cool completely wrap and seal them air tight. Some cookie set well in containers on your table just fine until Christmas. I baked The Prize Cookies they are great for containers and offering to your guest as they stop. They get better by the day.

PRIZE MINCEMEAT COOKIES

1 c. Crisco

1 1/2 c. sugar

3 eggs, well beaten

1 (9 oz.) pkg. condensed none-such mincemeat

3 1/4 c. all purpose flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening in large bowl, gradually add sugar and blend well after each addition. Add eggs and beat until smooth. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Crumble and stir in mincemeat. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake in 400 degree oven 12 minutes or until lightly browned.|||Ive never frozen sugar cookies before but I have refrigerated the dough for up to 10 days with good results.

I make a cookie called Swedish ribbon cookies that freeze well and other cake like cookies.

there are some that I make that are meant to be crisp like pfeffernuese , ginger snaps,biscotti and the like that keep well for weeks in a tin on a cool shelf.

Ive copy pasted a link with kinds of cookies and how to freeze instructions.

good luck %26gt;%26lt;%26gt;|||now?

i dont think you should.

its way too early,

and if you freeze it,

its going to turn hard and cold,

and it doesnt taste warm and moist

as it does when its all fresh.

my mom personally bakes them while the guests are eating dinner,

so they could have it as dessert,

and come dessert time,

its fresh and moist,

no trace of being frozen for a long time.|||Most cookies can be baked and frozen just fine. If you are making cookies with a filling in them you can freeze the sandwich part and fill them after thawing. Just make sure they are wrapped up tight and they'll be great!|||Yes, there are some great frozen cookie recipies on www.cooks.com you can usually keep the cookie dough in the freezer for about a month or so =)

Unless you wanted to bake the cookies after you made them into shapes... then I wouldn't bake them now! They would get stale!|||I don't think that's a good idea , too early.

mabe few days before christmas.|||You could make the dough now and freeze and then bake them off as needed as it gets closer to Christmas.|||I freeze all my Christmas cookies and they always taste great. So yes, you can start now.|||I always make start making mine early and freeze them. If you have a vacuum sealer, use that to seal the cookies in bags to freeze.

If cookies should be crisp when thawed, remove them from the container before thawing.|||Nah you should wait about 2 weeks before christmas, they would be fresher and better!!! :D|||It depends on a lot of things:

1. when are you giving them away?

2. will it have preservatives?

3. how long do your cookies usually last?

if you're giving them away a little later anyways, fresh cookies are always better ^___^|||you mean you haven't started them yet?? lol kidding!

A suggestion for keeping them until Christmas would be to use a "food saver" or vacuum sealer. Once the cookies are made, put them into a dish that can't be crushed ( the bottom part of a plastic dish works great) and vacuum seal it to remove as much air as possible. Try to avoid stacking over the edges of the container, once you start to seal if there are any over that they will get crushed. You can then keep them in the refrigerator or a cold place they will last for up to 4 months in sealed packages.

After cookies are baked do not touch them with your bare hands, as the oils from your skins will cause mold to form. I use a light latex type glove for handling the food.

( just so you wont feel bad... I know ladies that start their cookie baking in September!)|||yes ..freeze

Have you ever celebrated Christmas or New Year's eve on vacation in a different state?

I was in Arizona once for Christmas and New Year's Eve. It was weird being in a warm place on Christmas.|||Yes in fact on another continent! Even though I was living in California at the time,

spent Christmas 1999 in Helsinki Finland and New Yr's Day 2000 in Paris France.

What % of Gross Income should be allocated to Christmas gifts to others outside your household?

I'm single, with a low income, and have my children and grand children to buy christmas gifts for. Does anyone do a % basis for gift giving? Should ALL family members spend the same % of gross income, or should the gross income be divided by # of family members being supported then multiply the % on that basis? Or do you just say spend a specific dollar amount and forget the math?|||I don't think you need to devote a specific portion of your income to gifts; just decide how much you can afford to spend on an individual basis, and don't go over that amount.|||thinking in % of gross income is putting WAY too much thought into the commercialism of the holiday. This is about love and being around the family during a magical time of the year, not about how much (or little) you spent on their gift. Get what you can afford screw percents and even specific dollar amounts. If you can only afford a few things from the dollar store fine, if you can afford something a little more hunt for bargains, look for coupons. And don't underestimate the power of homemade gifts, those are the ones made truly from the heart and are usually cherished far more throughout the years than a couple of movies or CD's.|||Spend what you can afford. You might want to consider making cookies for the families since you don't have a lot of money. Nobody hates cookies. Small additional gifts for the grandkids, perhaps.

You need to get your children used to the fact that you do not have vast amounts of wealth for this.

Screw the dollar amount and the %. The point is to show people you care. That does not have a dollar amount on it.

How should I decorate my bedroom for Christmas?

My room is painted a lilac purple colour.

I'm not allowed to get miniture christmas trees, and I probably won't be allowed to get lights! :(

Please don't say its too early as I'm only planning!

Thank you!|||Lilac green and gold look wonderful together. You can use green christmas swags with lilac and gold ribbon gently draped in and around the swags. Then add gold color ornaments.

You can also get a can of gold paint and stray used ornaments to make this stunning for your room.

DP...-!-|||What about getting garland (I think that's what it's called) and purple and silver Christmas tree ornaments/balls and hang them on the garland draped around your room? Good luck!|||I not agreee!!!

Why do the lights on my metal christmas tree keep shorting out?

why do the lights on my metal christmas tree short out|||Since metal is conductor, if your lights without good insulation, the metal tree provides a way for the electricity.

Solution is to change to a none metal tree or lights with better insulation to break up the shortting connection.

Also, do not turch the metal tree, you might get to electrical shot from it.|||You may have loose wiring in the connector or a cut in the wire. It could be some internal malfunction too. I recommend a new tree.|||Now what do you mean short out. If it shorts out to the tree there would be a black burn mark at the location. If you keep putting new light strings on and your tripping the breaker its probably not shorting out. Over loading ??? How many strings are you using? If you are using allot of lights, the current draw is too much for that circuit. You would have to plug into half the lights from one outlet and plug the other half in a different outlet. The outlets would have to be in different rooms though because the ones in that room are on the same circuit.

How to convince parents to let me go to the Christmas party?

My bf is havig a christmas eve party friday night. And I really wanta go! However he lives half an hour away and we usually spend Christmas eve as a family. My whole famiy was invited though. How do I convince my mom to let me go? A buncha my friends are going also. I am 16 btw and don't have my license yet. Thanks a ton for any help!|||The reason why your mum is not letting you go is because it's christmas, it's the time of the year family have a wonderful time together and make their bonds stronger, and you want to go to some stupid christmas party, trust me even if you went to that party you'll regret because spending time with people you love and they loves you is better than spending time with people you don't know...

However if you really want to go then promise your mum to be very careful and to return home before 12 am, No drinking, no having private conversations with boys and always sticking with your friends, staying in a group. !!

she might let go but i think she'll be really sad|||I love a bargain as much as anyone and I used to love all the cheap stuff I could find on eBay, but nowadays it seems so hard to find anything cheap over there and just when we're all finding it tougher to just pay our bills. Where can I find artificial glowing colorful Christmas tree?

I'm looking for a mini artificial Christmas tree. One that is between 1' to 2' in height and 1' in diameter at the bottom. They are electrically powered white artificial trees. The "leaves" are white needles but they glow in beautiful colors especially at the tips. Where can I find one and what are they called officially? Thanks!|||fiber optic trees they are so pretty I wish I had them I saw them on qvc you might want to check their website|||i've seen those at menards, lowes and target. they are fiber-optic call around :]

When do you start making your own christmas cards?

Last year I started in early October but this year I have not started yet at all. I have all the stuff ready, just not got round to starting, them again I do have seven weeks to get started before Christmas day.|||It's so easy to procrastinate you feel like you have to make a bunch of cards. I would suggest figuring out who on your Christmas card list lives the farthest and starting making their cards first, so the cards get mailed to them in time.

Then work towards making cards for your friends and family members that live closer to you. That way you don't feel like you have to get them done all at once.

Remember, they will probably want to put your card on display in their home during the holidays for guests to enjoy - so keep that in mind!

Have fun!|||Not sure if you are asking when you should start, or when others start. I don't usually make my own cards, but if I were going to do so (and they had to be mailed) I think I'd get busy soon so they could be prepared and then mailed any time after Thanksgiving.

If you plan on handing them out or including them with gifts you don't have to mail, you've got more time of course but why procrastinate? The sooner you get them done, that's one less thing to worry about during the busy holiday season.|||I already started about mid October. I have several people who live out of the country so I have to get their gifts and cards out early for them to arrive on time. Plus, I always make a bunch of holiday greeting cards for the residents at our local nursing home and like to deliver them in early December so they can enjoy them for a long time. Listen to some Christmas tunes and you will get motivated to start making them. Works for me.|||It depends on how many you need to make. Last year I was making over 200 and started in January and worked on them off and on almost all year long. I did them in batches of about 24.

I've started mine but they are sitting waiting for me to finish them.

I have a lot of other projects that I need to work on that are gifts.

Time to get to work!!

How to plant and care for a christmas tree?

Ive planted a christmas tree in my garden. It was nearly dead but now has new shoots half way up can i cut the dead bits off and maybe cut it down to half its size where the new shoots are growing as the top looks very dead.|||Evergreens recover from damage VERY slowly. The parts that are brown will never turn green again. If you have a tree with only a few shoots, halfway up, the tree is going to look really awful for years - if it survives. I recommend planting a new tree. Start small if you like to watch them grow. A 2 foot evergreen can be purchased for $20.|||Yes to both questions, but let the new shoots develop awhile before pruning the tree. Commercial Christmas tree growers always cut above the lower limbs when they harvest trees. One or more of the strongest limbs will turn up and become another tree. When your tree is grown it will simply have an odd shaped lower trunk. Watch the tree closely since the dead sections can attract pests.

How and where can I recycle my christmas tree?

I don't want to just throw out my Christmas tree this year with my town's curbside pickup - I've heard of places where you can bring to have your tree mulched or used in a body of water for a reef habitat for fish. Anybody know where I can do this in New Jersey?|||In my town we have a green can that we put our yard waste into. This waste is recycled and turned into whatever they do with it. This might be an option in your town. Also, call your local trash company and ask them where you can drop off your tree.|||Use matches and a fireplace. Make love to a woman. Lay her down by the fire.|||try calling the parks commission in your area. How do I make a styrofoam glitter Christmas decorations?

I remember making decorations as a kid that we would take paper Christmas napkins and glue them to styrofoam balls, then decorate with glitter.

I am not sure if I am missing any steps and I am not have any success with searching for this craft.

Anybody made these before / have full directions?

Thank you!|||Were you using translucent glitter (holographic, or pearl, or something), or were you using an opaque glitter like red or gold, etc.?

Were you using the larger-flake-size "craft" glitter?... or were you using the ultra-fine polyester glitters often used for decorating t-shirts and many other things, etc?

Were you covering the entire ball with glitter, or just certain parts or shapes?

The napkin part sounds like it was just "decoupage," using a purchased decoupage medium like ModPodge or Royal Coat, or the homemade version of a permanent white glue like Elmers GlueAll thinned 3 or 4 to 1 with water (these would be used both under and over the napkin parts). You could decoupage pieces of napkin/etc on any surface btw, even on metallic "glass" xmas ball ornaments (though the color of the ball ornaments could show through any light-colored napkins).

Sometimes those fine-grain polyester glitters in translucent versions (no "color) or holographic ones are used over entire colored images or objects so that the images show through and are sparkly but less distinct (the glitters are sprinkled onto a wet layer of the decoupage medium or thinned glue, or perhaps mixed into the medium then brushed onto the surface).

How do you safely use an extension cord with outdoor Christmas lights?

I'm hanging Christmas lights for the first time and need to connect my house lights to a bush net light set. The only outdoor extension cords I can find are three prong, the Christmas lights are two prong. Every website I found says you have to use a three prong for safety's sake. How do I work around this safely?|||If the lights do not have a ground buying an adapter doesn't make any difference. Plug the grounded extension cord into then the 2 prong male lights into the 3 prong female cord. Just do as said above and make sure to form a proper seal with electrical tape.

They don't see Christmas lights with a ground so whether you use a 2 or 3 prong extension cord is not going to matter.|||Go to you local hardware store and ask for an adapter...it plugs into a three and allows you to plug in a two prong.|||you can cut off the 3rd prong on the extension cord plug in your lights an wrap 2 or 3 layers of black electrical tape and then a layer of duct tape on the connection and everything should be fine keep an eye on it to be safe but its not likely any problems will arise they also make a three prong to two prong adapter but still cover all your extension cord to light cord or light cord to light cord connections with black electrical tape to keep water out|||Wrap the connection with electrical tape and you should be OK. Good Luck!!!|||GoGreen is right|||Ha Ha im like clark griswald on national lampoons christmas vacation i use all kinds of cords when i hang stuff up and never had a problem yet been doing it for years can't really answer ya buddy|||I used a (i don't know what its called) thing that has a 2 prong male and a 3 prong female. PLugged the xmas lights into one end and the other into the outlet. But I made sure this was inside (i attached it in the garage) and went from there.

What should i get my girlfriend for christmas?

This is my first time going out wit a girl near christmas. I want to get her something special. I thought about gettin her a magic kit or a set of googles. Unless you think I should be more mature and get her a whoopee cushion. Please help me!|||Ahhhh! A magic kit fer suree!

Seriously. I would love a guy forever if he bought me a magic kit. :D

But if not then you could get her earings or something like that. Candy!

Hair Accessories

You could also make her something. Make sure it actually looks/smells/tastes/feels/sounds good. If it doesn't, she'll say that it was really sweet of you, but in the back of her head she'll probably be thinking of how pitiful it actually is. So just make sure you put some effort into it if you are making something. Don't throw it together last minute because then it's going to look like 5H1T.|||Everyone likes music, videos, games and books. If you check out the top ten lists for each and pick something you think she will like you are bound to be on a winner. Or have a look at the Prezzy box gift selector on the site below to help you come up with ideas.|||What the hell are those gift ideas lol. Girls like jewelry, sentimental things such as hand-made cards and stuff, and clothes. Unless this magic kit or set of goggles has a sentimental value or is associated with an inside joke, then I would not get her those lol.|||It depends what she likes. If she is into magic a magic kit could be cool. But it all depends on what she likes. You could get her anything from lip-gloss to a book. And uh don't go with the whoopee cushion...|||it depends on how long you've been dating;

i wouldn't go with anything that you have suggested.

What should an uncle and a nephew do together on christmas?

My friend is alone at home with his uncle who's only two years older than him. They're both not doing anything on Christmas, so I thought they should have Christmas together. Apparently though, he can't think of anything because he's afraid it would be awkward since they're both guys. Any suggestions?|||When the age difference is much little and they are living together that means they are living more like a friend so they could hang out together and might have dinner or lunch at some place where lot of tourists come.

What's the best way to guess what your Christmas presents are?

I'm home from college for Christmas and my parents surprised me with a bunch of presents under the tree, but I have to wait until Christmas to open them. Besides shaking boxes when no one is around, does anyone have any other techniques to see behind wrapping paper (using a flashlight, other stuff, etc.)? And no I will not wait like a good boy.|||Cut the tape on one side of the box (or just 1 piece of tape). Then carefully (without ripping the paper) unfold the paper. Then when your done looking fold the paper back and tape it back. Or just look in your mom's purse at the receipts when she leaves her purse out.|||not guess and wait... dont spoil a surpise|||ive done this before, unwrap the presents on one side like look at the end of the box or whatever it may be, then tape it back up and it looks like u never touched it!|||haha i use to do this, ok well when your parents leave then

unwrap the present NEATLY! usually only on 1 side, by taking

atleast 1 or 2 peices of tap off, then look at what it is, then wrap it back up

like you never touched it, then place it back where it was|||hahahah thats funny your in college and still do this? I'm a sophomore in college, but i remember doing that up until I was around 15 lol. Sometimes I used to peak behind the wrapping paper, carefully open it then tape it back up. lol

Anyway...don't you wanna be surprised!?

How do I keep my puppies from peeing on the Christmas tree skirts?

What do I get my boyfriend for Christmas?

We have been dating for almost two years and we've done one christmas, a birthday, vday and other things...I have done the clothes the cds, the spray and lots of other things but this year I have no idea.|||There's nothing a boyfriend loves better knowing that his girl is a cheapskate. Knowing that, he will be yours forever.|||how about this year you just show your love for him like make him something, like a scrapebook,or a picture frame, or yall dont get each other anything yall spend yalls money(together) on a christmas angel. It will show yalls love of not having to buy each other anything to prove it.|||Sex|||Hmmm... by boyfriend was hard to shop for too. I got him one of those day calender things for 2009... he likes those and a pair of flannel pants to wear when it's cold and to sleep in... all that good stuff. If you guys have been dating for such a long time, I think maybe you could personalize a gift... a scrapbook or a picture frame with a pic of you guys in it... or you could just stick some mistletoe in a box and wrap that up... Hope you find something good, though. =D|||Just go with him for a great party, because if he really likes you then you spent a long time with him is the best gift for him.

And i have a gift for you http://www.koffii.com/GameDescription.as… .

What Christmas tree theme should I go with?

I will use clear lights, but am willing to add a few others. I need to know the perfect theme for my tree. Something very traditional. Some deep wholesome color! This will be used for my tree next year. I figured I would ask now since we are all in the holiday spirit! Merry Christmas Everyone!|||I helped decorate the tree at a local business this year. It is very simple, but really pretty. All the balls are gold. The lights are clear. There are small red bows and gold bows all over it. On top is a big red and gold shimmery bow that cascades all the way down the tree.

It's beautiful and shouldn't cost much. The bows are about 2-1/2 to 3" across - the kind you get at WMart or similar store in packages of about 12, and they have twist ties on them to secure them to the tree.|||I usually use clear lights but this year I'm using a lot more of my Nightmare Before Christmas items that I bought at DisneyLand so I'm going to use colored lights as well.

I need a recipe for sugar free Christmas goodies?

I just found out my dad is diabetic. He is a sweet tooth! For Christmas I want to bake him sugar free, or reduced sugar goodies. I really am looking for chocolate covered pretzels? Anything without sugar or low sugar! Help please!|||As far as Sugar free chocolate for your pretzels...Hersheys has sugar free choclolate bars...you could melt down and use those...I have never tried though..just a suggestion...Here are 2 recipes..perfect for holidays! Dissolve lemon gelatin in boiling water. Let cool until thickened, but not set. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and vanilla until smooth. Blend in lemon gelatin. Fold in whipped topping.

What is a thoughtful but somewhat inexpensive Christmas gift?

My boyfriend and I decided that we were going to be thoughtful instead of expensive this year for Christmas but I don't know what I could possibly get him. Or where I could take him. Any idea would help.|||get a nice picture of you two together and photoshop it. You can get free monthly trials of some photoshop programmes online. Then buy a nice frame somewhere that doesn't cost that much|||Give a personalised gift. Check out this site:

http://www.mypersonalisedgifts.com

They have gifts you can personalise as well as really original and unique presents. Really worth a root around! I love their site and have bought loads with no problems!|||I would recommend for you to visit www.incanworldgifts.com

They have very unique gifts and they are very unexpensive. I bought some presents for my brother and sister's B-Day this year and they truly loved them.

Good luck|||I used some ideas from a website I found where you can have any photo reproduced into a life sized vinyl sticker. You should check it out, there are a lot of possibilities http://www.ipixxl.com Good luck!|||A Rose, with a beautiful piece of poetry on your thoughts about him. :)

What Christmas presents should I buy for my two older sisters?

One of my older sisters is 20 years old and the other is 19. What should I get them for christmas?? What do you think girls at that age would want as a gift?|||1.Every girl is very fashion conscious. You will very rarely find any girl who is not concerned about beauty and figure. So beauty products like mud packs, herbal scrubs and different types of cosmetics are the ideal Christmas gifts for teenage girls.

2.For more studious and quiet girls you can get light romantic novels. Sweet Valley High series, Mills and Boons and Sidney Sheldon are some of the popular novels amongst teenagers.

3.A pet cat or a puppy is also a very innovative Christmas gift ideas for teens. It will save them from feeling lonely when parents are not at home. It will also teach them to be responsible and will also give them company|||i'm 20 years old...but every person is different, if they are girly, get them a gift card to their favorite store, or go shopping with them and see what they like or what they want, chances are at some point while shopping they will say something like "that is so cute" or "i love that one" or even " i wan't that" and then you will know what to get them, but don't do it until very near christmas, you don't want them deciding to come back and get it themselves!

if they aren't girly and are interested in things like sports, instead of makeup, get them a gift card to a sports store...

if you want it to be more personal...find out what their favorite perfume is...or favorite makeup...or if they don't wear makeup, find out who their favorite celeb is and get them a wall hanging...

you could buy them, cold weather accessories (i.e. hats, scarves, gloves, ear muffs) if it gets cold where you live, you could get them accessories for their ipod/mp3 player, jewelry, laptop accessories (if they have a laptop)

or you could do something really personal and make them customized gifts, like if you knit or crochet, make them a blanket, if not you can go to a craft store and buy blank picture frames, decorate them and put a picture of the two of you in it (one w/ the 20 year old, to give to her, and one with the 19 year old to give to her)...you can customize by putting their names, favorite colors, favorite prints (like if one likes geometrics and one likes flowers...etc.

that's really all i can think of but if i think of more, i will tell you....|||I'm having the same problem except my older sisters are 25 and 28. I'm so stuck on what to get them, but I was thinking maybe some abercrombie%26amp;fitch purfume because it smells really good but it's soooo expensive =( What kind of clothing stores do they like? Do they have a Favorite tv show or movie. You could try getting them like some cute earings of necklace or something.

I know I didn't help much, but I'm really bad a christmas shopping.

Have fun, I know I will (wink wink)|||They would want something convenient. I got a sister who's 21. She would want jackets for when it's cold and thick blankets for when she wants to be lazy in the living room. Warm slippers to walk around the house in instead of slippery socks (we have tile floor). Jewelry case/holder for her countless earrings and necklaces. A gift card to a place she likes to go to a lot whether it be for clothes or food. yeah, mostly convenient and not materialistic (unless that's how your sisters roll: in coach, juicy, gucci, etc. . . ) Which my sister so does not and neither do I.|||I found a great gift for my sister a week ago..which I now want for myself lol. Perhaps it's something you might like to get your sister. It was a bulletin board but not the kind you stick pins in. It was covered in a gorgeous fabric with ribbons criss crossed all over. You stick in your momentos and pictures, appts etc under the ribbons. I'm going to stick a gift card to her favorite coffee shop under the ribbons. I might stick a few other odds and ends on it too.

What would be some creative ideas for Christmas gift giving that are hand made and not store bought?

We've decided not to do a gift exchange at Christmas to keep costs down but would like to make a gift for each person that would be special to them. Any ideas?|||try printing or whatever a bunch of pictures and make a photo album. Use scrap papers that have pretty designs on them and add captions. This would be best for a friend more then your mom or dad or something. My friend liked it(: But to help you get some more ideas, try doing something they can use. Like I made the thing for my mom to hang all her jewelry on, look at things you want to get for him or her and try to make it on your own. Anything is good, if it's sentimental and hand made they'll be sure to love it. Or atleast act like they do....|||You could research on the internet for ideas. I saw someone making wallets out of tape. Last year, my coworker made us ornaments out of paper. They were really nice and durable.

You could make cookie mixes. Get a jar and the different ingredients in that are needed to make cookies.|||There are so many you could possibly do. Anything from baking cookies, breads, cakes to making scrap books or even handmade jewelry, such as beaded necklaces and bracelets.|||We bought some tins and filled them with homemade cookies!

What does it mean when people say christmas is commercialized?

My friend says she doesn't like the commercialization of christmas! What does that mean?|||She thinks Christmas has become about profit instead of religious observances and family gatherings.|||Ever go shopping at Christmas time?|||Because stores always have really good discounts around Christmas and everyone goes instead of spending time with family.|||She thinks that Christmas is all about the gifts and $. She doesn't like that.

What should i get my girlfriend for christmas?

Im 15 and she is too and i asked her out on tuesday. Christmas is next week and i don't know what to get her. Ideas?|||a necklace with a heart on it. i got mine one it had like a diamond or something on it. And she loved it|||Your relationship is young, and so in my opinion I wouldn't give her the most expensive gift on the shelf. What I would do is give her something simple for Christmas. If you give a girl something very expensive at such a young relationship, she just doesn't know how to react to it; and most likely will feel uncomfortable.

She is still getting to know you, so be light on the gifts, but get a gift she will most likely to remember. Think of her traits, what she likes, and you will get to know her more, and your relationship will start to strengthen.

Although; the most sweetest gift you can give her is your love and caring.|||dude, just make it from the heart, girls will always melt at that kind of stuff, last year, when i asked her out, i made a card written in msn speak, back then, we had to stay secretive, and that was pretty much the only time, outside of dating, that we talked girlfriend to boyfriend, anything outside that, we just acted like friends, she thought it was amazing, and literally melted at the fact that i like, drew out a little msn window, on a screen.

make it something that is very personal ya'knoo, they always fall for that stuff ;)|||Box of chocolates? Don't get her something very nice to impress her because then you will be digging yourself a hole. Seeming as you guys havent been going out that long i do not recommend you spending too much on her. And if you guys do last, you can buy her something really nice for her birthday and that will surprise her heaps =D

If you want, maybe take her out to dinner?|||Clothes are tough unless you've known each other a long time. Not just style but size and fit too. Even something that's her size may not fit right. Unless she's the type that never wears jewelry I have to say you can't really go wrong. I wouldn't go with a ring because again you have the issue of size. Rings are also a bad idea unless you've been together for a while because it could be misinterpreted. I'd go with a bracelet, personally. I like the pandora idea and if she already has one then get her a new charm for it. (word to the wise, the gold clasp one is a total rip off, it doesn't make that much difference what color the clasp is and it's SO much more expensive! Go with the basic all silver one.) If thats out of the price range you want to stick with you can go with a regular charm bracelet and again, if she already has one, get her a new charm. If you get her a bracelet make sure to include a charm, though. Charm bracelets are no fun without the charms!|||has she said she always wanted something and never got it? well you should get her that :)

but if its like something you can't afford then i would move on to some other thing.

jewelry, accessories such as a purse, shoes (not talking running sneakers here, i don't think that would be that nice for xmas :/), clothes like a shirt, something that she likes to collect for her collection, get her something with a cute stuffed animal with that?

i don't know but those are just a list that i think she might like :) you know her more than we

do so you might know what to get. like something that you think she would like.|||well don't get her anything to big because it just might freak her out... try a box of chocolates not the cheep ones thou or if you want some jewelry always works earrings, or a nice neckless if you have the money of course. If the budget is tight then you should totally go to her house on Christmas night not to late of course and meet her folks she will like that allot of course assuming that she likes you back! oh yeah don't go empty handed thou take some chocolates or something!! But you being there will show her a lot and she will be like aawwww no one has ever done this for me!!!|||Ok obviously no one's being smart when they answer this. (Diamonds? Pearls? He's 15! He doesn't have that cash!) Get her a heart necklace or a pretty necklace. (not a sweater and not made of diamonds). Avoid buying her clothes because unless you know her size you'll insult her somehow. Don't get her something made of diamonds or pearls (not that we don't like that) but because you most likely don't have that kind of money AND because that's a serious gift for such new relationship.|||Something to show that you really appreciate her in your life. Girls really care about their appearance. But they have too much of that makeup. jewelry like necklaces or bracelets are the perfect gift. if you can afford the money, sterling silver heart necklace... or if she really hip and likes you be fun, A hello Kitty is a perfect gift. Also spend the days watching a movie, going ice skating or something romantic. :) hope i helped.|||Hmm well you don't know her super well so don't get something too personal like clothes. I would get her some nice flowers maybe, if you can find them. And jewelry is always a good choice. If you're low on cash, try Forever 21. They have cool jewelry that she will like, and it's very inexpensive, since you haven't known her for very long.|||If you guys are only 15, and you've only been going out for a few days- I would go with something like a CD, or a book, or a movie that you'll know she will love. Jewelry is kind of a big step, especially when you've only been dating a few days (weeks by Christmas).|||I am a girl myself and i suggest getting her a necklace or a bracelet.. to me, that seems appropriate because you have only been going out since tuesday. you have to get her a gift because she will probably be expecting something. I think a bracelet, necklace, or maybe even earrings..but it is up to you to decide. Good Luck :-)|||Ask her what she would like. Since you just recently started dating, you don't want to alarm her by getting a huge gift, or hurt her feelings by not getting anything at all. She might appreciate a scarf, necklace, earings, etc. But as I said, asking her is a fool proof method. Good luck!|||omg i love this question.... JEWELERY!!!!!!!!!!!! somethin she can wear evryday while yall are goin out as a sign of how much u like/love her!!!!!!!!! get he rlike anecklace with the firlst letter of her name on it or like a cute locket thing or watevr she wears for julry.ohhh and if u get her a locket put ur pic in if ur brave!!!!!!!!!!!|||I have the best idea! Get her a gift card with like $30 on it to Build A Bear(: And then you can go build a Teddy bear together and it would be really special to her[: I know I would love that.

Make sure you get a Leeland Cyprus instead of cedar though if you're dad is worried about the sharp needles or shedding. The Leeland Cyprus is just like the cedar only without the shedding, sharp needles,etc. It presents less fire hazard and it lasts MUCH longer. They're all together just great trees. Easy peasy|||Ingredients

butter for greasing

225g/8oz plain flour

pinch of salt

1 tsp each of ground ginger, mixed spice and grated nutmeg

50g/2oz blanched almonds, chopped

400g/14oz soft dark brown sugar

225g/8oz shredded suet

225g/8oz each of sultanas, currants and raisins

175g/6oz cut mixed peel

175g/6oz dried white breadcrumbs

6 eggs

5 tbsp stout

juice of 1 orange

50ml/2fl oz brandy

125ml/4fl oz milk plus extra if necessary

Method

1. Butter two 1.2 litre/2 pint pudding basins.

2. Sift the flour, salt, ginger, mixed spice and nutmeg into a very large mixing bowl. Add the almonds, sugar, suet, dried fruit, mixed peel and breadcrumbs.

3. In another bowl, combine the eggs, stout, orange juice, brandy and 125 ml/4fl oz of the milk.

4. Stir the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients, adding more milk if necessary to achieve a soft dropping consistency.

5. Divide the mixture between the pudding basins. Cut a round of greaseproof paper 1 陆 times the size of the rim of the pudding basin. Grease then fold a single pleat in the paper to allow room for the pudding to expand during cooking. Cover each pudding with paper and secure with string.

6. Place each pudding into a saucepan with water half way up the side. Cover and steam for 6 hours or longer. The longer a pudding cooks the richer and darker it becomes. Top up each pan with boiling water as required and don't let the water boil dry.

How do I start up A legitimate Christmas Tree decorating business?

Im a 23 year old student who LOVES christmas and always themes the apartment along with the tree... Since i was young I have been helping my Grandmother and friends of the family decorate there tree's and honestly...I think Im pretty good!! So how do I start a business to offer my service ( i want to decorate for businesses or homes, open houses) ? Whats a good rate? ornament cost and so forth... any suggestions will help me! Thanks|||I think when starting a new business that it's important not to think too much about your rate. Instead, think about how you will find clients/customers. Offer to do things for nothing or for next to nothing just to get a foot in the door.

For example, find some local businesses and offer to decorate their lobby for Thanksgiving for free, to show them what you can do come Christmas time. The decorating could really last all year.

Photos of what you can are important, and you should consider putting together a simple website. Again, don't worry about the latest and greatest Flash animations and SEO techniques. The point of your website will be for people to see what you can do and to get a sense of your personality. You might be able to find some template-ware services out there to do this for you.

You should get creative and check Goodwill Stores and Salvation Army stores for decorations to help keep your costs down. And don't invest in the decorations all up front - you can gradually grow as you land more clients, which will help keep your short-term costs manageable and, over time, keep your profitability higher as you won't need all new decorations each year.

Also, you probably don't want to be known by your name. Giving your business a name of its own helps convey a sense of professionalism all around. It helps people take you seriously. Also, it will let you protect your social security number a bit when companies need to pay you. You can file for a DBA, or Doing Business As, to set up a business name for your company. This is kind of an intermediary step before filing an LLC or Incorporation, but form what you've described it should be all you need. There are some online sources that can do that for you for pretty cheap too.

Best of luck! My wife is too pregnant to decorate this year, so I'd hire you!|||That's actually a good business idea. Since you love what you're doing, it will eventually succeed. Don't be afraid to try new things, learn new ways to maximize your potential. That's a good spirit.

There are actually dozen of options for you to try. Since you already have an idea of what the business you'll gonna start. First, make a try out or do some experiment to see if this business is ok, try to make some photographs of your crafts or a video on how you make it. Show the photos or samples of your crafts and services to your prospect customers and make them choose what craft they want. How much to charge? this depends on the cost of your products plus your service fee. Make a list of the costings and the number of items you can probably make on that and just add a mark up percentage price. To market your products or services, you can start with your neighborhood or your friends. Don't forget to give them a business card or brochure of your products. You can also join trade shows and bazaars at your local area. Don't forget to get their phone or cellphone numbers and emails. You will use this for advertising your products and services.

If you want to know more of how to start this kind of business, just visit my source site for detailed information and guide.|||yes, i am

How many Glaswegians will be getting their legs broken by loan sharks this Christmas?

No only is Christmas coming up, it's also recession time. How many Glaswegians will be getting their legs broken by loan sharks this Christmas?

Or maybe we could give the little people a bailout? Quantitative Easing for the wee man Remember, we're all in this together!

Poll: Rent or Christmas?|||Not many now that legal companies such as quick quid have sprung from Satan's orifice, 2229 perecent apr. Payday loans parasites have cornered the market on short term loans|||It is not just Glaswegians who will be in this dreadful situation. Once the VAT rise and NI increase comes into force, we will all be feeling the squeeze on our spending power. Nobody is really looking forward to Christmas as it is the most expensive time of year and people, especially children have greater and greater expectations every year. Rip off Britain will still make a killing on the high street, while hard up families and pensioners will be the ones to suffer the most. I cant wait for Christmas to be over and get back to the business of repaying my debts.|||Loan sharks? It's the so-called legitimate banks that cause many of the problems for simple humble people in the 1st place by lending far too many people far too much money that they know simply cannot afford to pay back.

Blood sucking Fred the Shred (Sir Fred Goodwin ex RBS) and his like would be getting their legs broken if I had it my way. They're even worse than a Glaswegian gangsters. A £30 letter for being 1P overdrawn.... sheesh.|||What a sad, desperate picture you paint of the very poorest members of society in the far North and their awful plight at Christmastide when they must choose between legal demands on the weekly pittance the benefit office doles out and a few pints of Whisky.

When a judge dismisses a case because his heart has been melted by a tale of woe from a Glaswegian in borrowed shoes all the wee Jock can muster up is a grateful 'Thank you, your bas.'

Something must be done. Did Mel Gibson die in vain?|||So many people have not seen what Glaswegian gangsters are like if they are now trying to castrate people with sledgehammers or drilling holes in peoples heads with power tools they like a quick pint of Creme de Menthe as they did hear the Pope liked it for a tipple, all they could say was "that was the worst pint I ever had". Still, rather than breaking legs, slashing people with cut throat razors they just can't compete with the Bankers now the name Fred the Shred just makes them wet themselves in terror as he makes them look so amateur. Just for the record I did not smash his windows or slash his car tyres - someone beat me to it.|||lol, you're right there! I'm saving early this year for my wee boy, I don't believe in loan sharks or loan companies, because loan companies are just legal loan sharks, right?|||Things are so bad at my house we're going to skip Christmas this year. Searching for white chocolate, fig and macadamia christmas pudding recipe?

It was a variation of a standard pudding recipe in a magazine liftout 2005 or 2006 christmas. I don't know what magazine. It is delicious!|||Figgy Pudding Recipe with Macadamias and a White Chocolate Sauce

1/2 lb. of figs

1 1/4 C. of fresh bread crumbs

1 C. of Macadamias, chopped (can use almonds or walnuts)

3 T. of melted butter

4 eggs, beaten

1/2 t. of cinnamon

1/4 t. of nutmeg

Chop the figs and mix with fluffy crumbs. Brown the macadamias. (If using almonds, they should be blanched and skinned and chopped before browning. Walnuts should be chopped before browning.) Mix with all the other ingredients.

Put the mixture into a greased mold and steam 2 1/2 hours. (The pudding may also be baked in a 325掳 F. oven for 1 hour). Moist, soft grapefruit peel adds a very good flavor. Serve with the following white chocolate custard sauce or whipped cream.

After Christmas it's all at least 50% off!|||If you want to buy on the cheap, then wait until after Christmas and buy your ornaments when they go on sale. This year, I'd suggest you make your own. Doesn't get any cheaper than that. As for buying a tree, check your local paper for tree farms or tree lots. What is the best way to experience Christmas cheer?

The holidays have become crazy shopping sprees involving spending too much money and dealing with ALOT of rude and impatient people. It's way too stressful and I don't want to participate anymore. I want to create some new family traditions which involve togetherness, fun, and a sense of well-being without all the craziness but I also don't want my children to feel shortchanged. What are some ways to change Christmas into something much more meaningful?|||Good food with family and/or friends. Mmmmmmmm.|||My family cooks. We pull the kids together in the kitchen and cook away. Creating cookies, sweet breads as well as cakes. If things are really tight, we do this a day or two before Christmas and then wrap them up in Tupperware. Each person gets to give what they made to a family member.

We also go the gingerbread house thing. It is messy but fun.

Also, we have done in the past home crafts. Making holiday decorations or crafts to give away at the holidays. It isn't very pricey but very personal. When we give them away to friends and family they know we took time to make their gift and didn't just take the easy way out at a store. You can order a lot of these online, they don't take long and you can avoid the store crowds. |||make decorating the tree a family job, with everybody helping. you could also bake cookies (with the kids) with holes in the top, to thread and hang on the tree. let the kids have a go at making their own christmas decorations. before bed everyone have a mug of hot chocolate around the lit up tree.|||This year we are having a Birthday party for Jesus. We are not very religious, but my kids are too young to worry about how much money we are spending. So, I figured we would start our little tradition with the birthday party.

What is the appropriate wine for the christmas holiday?

What is the best wine to serve for the Christmas holiday?|||If I'm bringing wine anywhere, I like to spend a min. of $30, but maybe even more for holidays. If it's for a later dinner I like to bring red (merlot, usually) but if it's for an earlier dinner I like to bring white (chardonnay is good) because I feel like it tastes a little lighter.

Hope this helps!|||anything that cost more than $3|||There is no appropriate wine. Make your selection based on the foods you are serving and remember Mulled Wine is traditional...|||If you are taking wine for a party and can afford it, take one red and one white. What should i get my grandmother for christmas?

I know its a couple months away, but i don't know what to get my grandmother for christmas.

She collects wind chimes, but she has so many (and she got like three last year) that don't want to get her another one.

She also really likes antiques. Her den is full of antique furniture that no one's allowed to sit on and a whole bunch of other antique things like lamps mirrors and tables.

I'm kind of on a budget too.

Any ideas?|||a snuggie|||Go to a thrift store of a flea market, your bound to find something that is either a antique or looks like one, and it won't be expensive.

Or you could always get her a necklace or something, i don't know where you live, but Jcpenny's has cheap sterling silver necklaces and rings that say sweet things and what not? good luck! :)|||Does she have a garden? If so, get her garden bulbs - you can buy a large bag right now in most stores for not a lot of money. She can plant them now and they will bloom by spring (or plant them for her in a pot and they will bloom inside before spring). They'll bloom every year! And bulb flowers are sooooo pretty!|||Well she doesn't need anymore antiques,or wind chimes.How about a nice soft scarf to wrap up in?Everyone enjoys a nap at times.Or a magazine subscription to the Good old Days as she likes antiques so well.Just a thought.|||A Madame Alexander Doll. Christmas-What makes Christmas important to your family and your children?

What makes Christmas an important holiday for your family and children,

why do you do the things you do for Christmas?|||It's the one time of year we are all together. We are all off work/school for 2 weeks this year! I love that the children, even though they are teenagers, still look forward to daddy reading 'Twas the night before Christmas on Christmas eve. Then they have to sleep in the same room and watch the movie "Good Burger." Whichever one of them wakes up in the middle of the night has to restart the movie so it's continuously going. It touches my heart that the are so close.

I love the Annual Christmas Parties we host. One for adults and one for children. Getting our Christmas tree from the Christmas tree farm the day after Thanksgiving. Having a separate live Christmas tree in our bedroom and sleeping with the lights on. Everyone getting a new ornament every year. Shopping. Of course, I love the shopping! Baking and cooking traditional, as well as new, dishes. Yummy!

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS! |||I think its just because its a time when my whole (extended) family is together. we usually have lunch or dinner at one of the family members home, there is usually ham there too :). After lunch/dinner we just talk and have a good time. I like christmas, because i get to see all my cousins etc.|||For our family Christmas is a time for the whole family to get together and also to help others that are less fortunate then what we are. A lot of the traditions that I do with my kids I did when I was a child and same with my mom and so on. Christmas is a time to open up your heart to others and to be thankful for everything god has given us. |||Bringing us together. Its the spirit of Christmas that has me wanting to lend a hand. Its now a peaceful time for me, to see me as I once was as a kid. Christmas is important to me, because its the time when I get to see my family, that I haven't seen all year . I do the things I do because of the spirit it brings.|||Its basically the only holiday where we all have a few days off,not aways but mostly.So family get together to share the past year and look forward to the new one,with good food,celebrations,singing,alittle work.We always have a big dinner,open gifts,watch Christmas movies,some go out looking at decorations and lights.A great way to end the year with all your loved ones together.|||There are several things that make Christmas an important holiday to me. I love having all my family home for Christmas...that is my favorite thing. It is also a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus...he is the reason for the season. It is also a special time for me to help the less fortunate. In my town they have a program which gathers food and delivers food baskets to less fortunate families and they also give the kids toys. People in the area donate their time and money to make this possible. They have auctions to raise most of the money. I always go through my daughters toys and donate toys to the children...it puts a very good feeling in my heart. I love Christmas.

How do you decorate a department store christmas tree?

i work in a department store that takes christmas very seriously i'm in charge of decorating 3 trees and i have no idea how to start. they all have prechosen themes and the decorations to go, but i need some tips or pics to get an idea of what i'm trying to do i would really appreciate any help.|||I did this for three years...put the lights on first. Start from the base, wrap it and work your way up, wrapping each and every branch, then get some large ties, and secure each ornament to the branches so the people won't knock them off and break them, or pocket them. Place the ornaments next, then put bows at the end of the branches. Work in triangles with the ornaments and bows. Place an ornament at the top of one triangle, then go down a couple of branches and place two ornaments, one in each corner to complete a triangle. Do that with the bows as well, it makes a gorgeous tree.|||Instead of wrapping the tree in lights, work vertically. Start at the top and run the strands up and down the tree. You'll be able to get lots more lights onto the tree.

I agree with the previous answer about wiring the ornaments to the trees. Do the same in spots on the lights and any garland - it will keep everything in place.

Whatever the color scheme, use small ribbon interwined within the interior of the tree.

Use a unique color for the tree skirt, although it won't be the focus of the tree, the color will pop out here and there.

Don't place a topper that is too heavy - it will cause the tree to lean, and even slightly, will look bad. Consider a bow, a bird, or small fruit arrangement if you don't have a lightweight star or angel

Have fun....|||what type of decorations do you have to work with?|||tell us what the three thems are.

|||My parents usually spend about 200-250 $ per child, there are 3 of us. They usually get us one "big" present that could be something like a camera, cell phone, ipod etc... of course though, if the big present is worth about 200$ you may find yourself short on presents, when this occurs, don't go by price but go fairness, make sure they all get the around the same amount of presents at around the same cost :)|||My parents used to spend as much money as they can afford to on me, my sister, and my brother. The year that they spent the most, it was probably about $800 for me and my younger sister and around $600 for my older brother. On lesser years it was about $250-$300 a kid. We were definitely not rich and did not have alot of money to spend, but my parents purposely put money away all year to save for christmas so they can get us gifts and had barely any money after christmas. The basic rule would be spend what you have to spend, just make sure if they are younger you get around the same amount for each kid because it is harder for them to understand money. I only have one 5 month old son so no matter how much I spend he is not going to care but me and my boyfriend spent around $150-$200 for him. I hope I helped(:|||I have a son who birthday is 1 week after Christmas. I usually spend the same amount on Christmas as I do his birthday. $200/ each, plus the stocking which I accumulate $30, and then with all the tax I usually spend around $250. I only get him 5 presents. but they are worthwhile.|||Well for us it used to be approx. 700-900 a kid, then money got tighter and it went down to 500 a kid, then 200-250 a kid, then parents seperated and now its about 250 per kid from each parent|||Me and my brother usually get about $300 each worth of stuff, we're not rich, but my dad knows how to spend wisely throughout the year. There's a difference between rich and smart with money.|||Make sure you spend around the same amount per child. If you have 1-2 then around 200-300 each. 3-5 around 150. 6+ around 50.|||wow in my family its like 20-40 when we were younger now its like 10$ haha not everyones rich aye lol its the thought that counts, find out want they want but most of all make sure they know how much you love them i think thats most important|||You can spend around 200$ on Christmas present per child.|||there is never too much for love|||I think it's all subjective. If you have it to spend, and you want to lavish things on your children, then spend a great deal. If you don't, then don't. Children don't care about the amount of money spent.

In may family, my husband and I decide approximately how much we are going to spend on each child, and the dollar amounts have to more or less match once the purchasing is complete.

This year Santa spent 4 dollars on one of our girls and 11 on the other. I found a fantastic deal on a gift that should have been 12, but only cost 4. What that means is that Santa will also be bringing one of them a coloring book and crayons for 5 dollars, and we're picking up an additional unexpected gift for the other that costs approximately 10 dollars. Meanwhile, the gifts from mom and dad total to about 15 each. So for two children, we're spending 60 dollars on Christmas presents.
