What does it mean when people say christmas is commercialized?

My friend says she doesn't like the commercialization of christmas! What does that mean?|||She thinks Christmas has become about profit instead of religious observances and family gatherings.|||Ever go shopping at Christmas time?|||Because stores always have really good discounts around Christmas and everyone goes instead of spending time with family.|||She thinks that Christmas is all about the gifts and $. She doesn't like that.
