How do i go about planting my christmas tree?

i have a small about 10-14 inch tall italian stone pine christmas tree growing a in a little pot. Its startign to get ot big and iw ant to replant it into a bigger pot. What soil do you reccomend ( not to pricey) and what size pot? Is there anything i need to know about this species and how i should take care of the tree?|||I would transplant it up about two pot sizes. A mixture of dirt and potting soil should do fine. This is a moderate growing tree that gets from 40- 80 ft high. Not for small yards. For more info on this tree just search: Italian Stone Pine.|||It grows slowly enough to stay tree size for a while. just prune it to shape regularly. Mix some of your local soil with some sand and some leaf material the leafy material will disintegrate to nothing but will help provide nutrients and aeration. Sand helps with drainage but, you want it to be an in between for your potted tree and your native soil, so not lots of sand

maybe one third of your mix if you have clay like soil. two or three times your present pot size will work a four inch pot to and eight or twelve inch pot. It will use the nutrients and spread its roots and hold more moisture. It should last you another two or three years in those pots.|||If you want the plant to stay small, research bonsai. As your plant is a tree it will stay "tree sized" for it's entire life. To keep it a manageable size use a good potting soil mix and shift the plant to the next bigger sized pot.
