Whats the difference between Christmas and Xmas?

I used to think that Xmas was for Athiests but then I asked my athiest friend and she told me she called it christmas.|||Xmas is simply shorthand for Christmas.





Some Christians object to 'taking Christ out of Christmas', but the use comes from the Greek style of writing the New Testament was written in. The documents often shorten commonly reoccurring words... and "Christ" being quite common in the bible, it was often shortened to "Xp", which are the first two letters of "Christ" as written in that Greek language.





"X" has since been used as shorthand for the "kris" sound in Latin and the languages based on it.|||Xmas and Christmas are the same thing. Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for the word Christmas. Many Christians believe that if you take Christ out of Christmas in calling Christmas Xmas that you are not capturing the true meaning of the Christmas Season. Many people believe that saying XMas is "X'ing" out Christ from the Christmas Season. I have always, and will always refer to it as Christmas, because the term XMas to me makes the holiday sound like something you don't want. For a grinch or scrooge, I am sure XMas would be appropriate.|||Well you see. There is no difference. Except for the fact that Xmas has an X in it and Christmas has Christ in it. It is easy and shorter to say\type.|||I was told the word xmas shouldn't be used something to do with the cross and the x but other than this they mean the same thing|||Xmas is just an abbreviation. It has something to do with old English and Latin.

Xmas is just the short way of saying "christmas".

Xmas is much easier to type and say.|||It's the same, Xmas is just an abbreviation of Christmas :)|||Well, for some people that put "Xmas" do not believe in Christ's birth, but then again some people are just lazy.


I call it Christmas(:|||Nothing.|||It's actually the same thing just a short way to spell christmas....jus like smh,or lol|||nothing|||X is an abbreviation for Christ or Cross. Get it? X = criss cross.|||christ|||its the same thing|||people who don't believe in Christ say xmas
